KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of a man, whose body was found in a bag dumped in some undergrowth along the Karak Highway, has been arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The 30-year-old woman, who has been identified as the main suspect, was arrested at about 7am after she arrived at the KLIA with her eight-year-old daughter yesterday.
The woman, a local, left the country for India with her daughter on Aug 28, a day after her husband’s body was dumped in the jungle.
Ampang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Jalil Hassan said the daughter was being cared for by a relative.
He also said that the woman is believed to have returned to Malaysia after being persuaded to do so by her family members in India.
“She was staying with her relatives in India and we believe she was persuaded by them to surrender to the police,” he said when contacted yesterday.
The woman has been remanded to facilitate police investigations.
The body of the deceased, a 33-year-old restaurant owner-cum-money changer, was dumped by a man who helped the woman to dispose of the body, after being told it was a golden statue.
He later returned to retrieve the “golden statue” but discovered the body upon opening the bag.
The man was still being remanded to assist in police investigations.
