KUALA LUMPUR: Marine police arrested a teenaged boy and seized 7,150 packets of cigarettes he had attempted to smuggle into the country in a boat in Semporna, Sabah.
Marine Operations Force commander Datuk Isa Munir said three police personnel engaged in an “Ops Octopus” operation came across a speedboat in Semporna waters and intercepted it at about 1am yesterday.
“The boat sped off but was stopped after a chase,” he told Bernama. Police seized the boat with the cigarettes, valued at RM31,000, and arrested the boy.
