Support staff in civil service to get RM500 each

PETALING JAYA: A total of 860,000 support staff in the civil service will receive a special cash assistance of RM500 each.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in a statement that the payment would be made twice — RM250 before Hari Raya and the remainder in December.

“The decision was made after taking into consideration the welfare of civil servants in this category especially to ease their financial burden to prepare for the festive season and also for the new school term at the end of the year,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the Government would have to fork out RM430mil as a result of the cash assistance.
