A SPECIAL mixed doubles event has been included in the Mydin-Head Malaysian Seniors age group super doubles tennis championships at the National Tennis Centre in Jalan Duta from Oct 30 to Nov 1.

The combined age of the pair must be 100 and above. Tournament director Norman Woo said they were organising super doubles championships for the first time.

“In the past, we had singles as well as doubles. But being veterans, many participants were unable to complete their matches. It was then that it was proposed that we limit the championships to doubles.

“We also felt that the special mixed doubles event will make the championships an exciting affair. We hope to attract a minimum of eight pairs for the special mixed doubles event,” Woo said.

The three-day championships has eight age groups (35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 and above) for men and two age groups (35-44; 45 and above) for women.

Participants losing in the first round will advance to the Losers’ Pool. Cash prizes will be awarded to the champions and runners-up in each age group.
