RM11mil to help Palestinians

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: About RM11mil from the Humanitarian Appeal Fund will be donated to the Palestinians - once the Foreign Ministry gives the green light.

Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who initiated the fund, said there was RM11mil left in the fund and it would be channelled to the Palestinians to help in their survival.

“The money will be used to build hospitals as well as buy medicine and other items,” she told a press conference at the Prime Minister’s private residence at Jalan Langgak Duta here yesterday.

Prior to the press conference, Rosmah met two Palestinian ulama who are involved in assisting the seven million Palestinian refugees in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

For a good cause: Rosmah receiving a souvenir from Palestinian delegates Sheikh Ziad Said Al- Kishawi (centre) and Sheikh Hussaien Khalil Saqar Al-Awawidah at her residence in Kuala Lumpur.

“The two ulama asked if Malaysia could help donate cloth, sweaters and tents to the refugees as a lot of them are women and children,” she said, adding they also requested for help to improve medical facilities in Gaza.

I have appealed to the ministry to release US$1mil (RM3.53mil) to dispatch a boat to carry aid supplies to the Palestinians,” she said.

Rosmah said the money from the humanitarian fund was collected not only from Muslims but also Malaysians of various faiths and backgrounds.
