KUALA LUMPUR: Two Iranian nationals were arrested after they were found in possession of syabu worth around RM300,000 in Jalan Kuching, near here.

The two, aged 41 and 37, were nabbed by police last Thursday while they were believed to be waiting to meet a customer.

The men are allegedly linked to an international drug syndicate based in Iran, said city narcotics chief Asst Comm Kang Chez Chiang.

“One of the men, who claims to be a hairstylist, has been moving in and out of Malaysia since 2007 and making frequent trips to other countries in the region,” he said at a press conference at the city police headquarters yesterday.

Both men are believed to have been staying in a condominium in Damansara Utama and have been allegedly operating in the country for about a month.

ACP Kang said police were working with the Iranian embassy to get a translator as the men claim that they only speak Iranian.

“Both men are under remand until Sep 16,” he said.
