New discipline panel to issue Subra show-cause letter

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam is expected to be issued a show-cause letter from a new disciplinary committee to be formed next month.

MIC disciplinary committee chairman Tan Sri G. Vadiveloo said the committee would be appointed by party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu during the first meeting of the Central Working Committee.

“Technically, I am not the chairman of the disciplinary committee now as it is automatically dissolved after the party elections. We have to wait for its formation again first.”

Besides Vadiveloo, the other members of the committee would include Negri Sembilan MIC chairman Datuk T. Rajagopalu and Perak MIC secretary Datuk R. Ganesan.

On Sunday, Samy Vellu stressed that the party would continue with its decision to issue a show-cause letter to Subramaniam, who lost twice in his bid to regain the deputy president’s post.

Subramaniam is expected to face charges of bringing disrepute to the party and smearing its image in the run-up to the party elections.

He may be warned, suspended or sacked from the party by the disciplinary committee. Its decision has to be endorsed by the Central Working Committee.
