MANY manufacturing, farming and construction companies in Ipoh are offering jobs because of the improving economic condition in the country.
Perak Labour Department director Nek Yusuf Nek Othman said the jobs offered might not be attractive but job seekers could learn and gain experience from them.
“They can opt for better and higher positions with better pay once they have the necessary experiences,” he said, adding that job seekers could work part time while waiting for better job offers.
Nek Yusuf said job seekers had often complained of low wages and job difficulties when working in the manufacturing, farming and construction sectors.
“Job seekers, especially youths should change their mindset and attitudes towards working at manufacturing, agricultural and construction sectors,” he said.
He added that the Labour Department was holding talks and seminars to motivate job seekers to take up offers at various industries.
Nek Yusuf said jobs were also aplenty in the electrical, electronic and textile manufacturing industries.
He added that commission-based jobs at banks and telecommunication companies were also looking for employees to fill vacancies.
Nek Yusuf said there were about 18,000 unemployed people, including graduates, looking for jobs in the state.
“There are about 17,000 job vacancies from the manufacturing, farming and construction industries available in our records as of September,” he said.
However, he noted that the figures could have changed as some employers or job seekers did not inform the department about the changes in their employment status.
