Paying for car repairs with debit card proves a winner

What say you on the issue below?

HAVING to repair his car turned out to be a blessing for Thomas Tang.

The 29-year-old assistant sales manager found himself the proud owner of a new Perodua MyVi 1.3 when he was announced the second winner of the Visa Debit Spend and Win promotion.

Tang received the keys to his car from Visa’s country manager for Malaysia Stuart Tomlinson, at a prize-presentation ceremony held at the Perodua showroom in Section 19, Petaling Jaya, recently.

He had used his Maybank Visa Debit Card to pay for the minor repairs to his car and his entry was selected the winner for the second monthly promotion that ran from July 15 to Aug 14.

Tomlinson hoped that Tang’s win would encourage more Visa Debit cardholders to pay for their daily transactions with their Visa Debit card.

“The Visa Debit Spend & Win promotion has received a tremendous response, with more than 62,000 SMS entries received during the first two months of the promotion.

“We are pleased that Malaysian consumers are embracing the use of debit cards as a daily payment tool, which mirrors the global shift in payment trends from paper-based cash and cheques to electronic payment systems,” he added.

The promotion was part of a nationwide promotion by Visa to encourage Malaysian consumers to pay for their everyday expenses by using their Visa Debit cards.

Visa Debit cardholders only had to make a minimum purchase of RM20 in a single receipt with their Visa Debit cards at merchant locations across the country to qualify for a chance to win a Perodua Myvi 1.3 car.

Three cars were up for grabs during the three-month promotion that ended on Sept 13.
