What say you on the issue below?

A PEERLESS display of impressive moves and grooves bagged Elecoldxhot the top spot in the inaugural F&N Freestylz Show Ur Moves finals recently, giving the KL-based group the opportunity of a lifetime to go to South Korea and train with Asia’s best B-boys, Gamblerz Crew.

Elecoldxhot, comprising Ooi Kok Wei, 23, Tan Yew Seng, 24, Tan Yew Yong, 20, Yap Jin Hou, 19, and Dennis Yin, 21, also received RM10,000, Samsung merchandise and F&N premiums after beating nine of Malaysia’s top street dance crews.

Move from Johor Baru were the runners-up and walked away with RM8,000, Samsung merchandise and F&N premiums, while third-placed Wakaka Crew, from Selangor, took home RM5,000, Samsung merchandise and F&N premiums.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Haslam from Wakaka Crew received the special award for Most Outstanding Performer, Project Elements (Kuala Lumpur) for Most Entertaining Group, Feasible Crew (Sarawak) for Best Choreographed Group, and N Crew (Kuala Lumpur) for Best dressed Group.

“F&N Freestylz is a platform for youth with a passion for artistic endeavours to channel their energy and express themselves.

“Even better, we hope to reward them for their skills and help them expand their horizon for this type of art.

“We want them to know that they, too, can turn their passion into success and emulate groups like Gamblerz Crew, who have managed to take their early street dance credibility to another level altogether.

“Now in its second year, we are proud that the F&N Freestylz spirit has shone through another form of self-expression that is born of the streets and celebrated for its rawness and cutting-edge moves. We are proud to be showcasing the best of the local street dance scene,” said Fraser & Neave (Singapore) Pte Ltd Regional Office general manager (marketing) Chris Ng.

Meanwhile, Ooi expressed Elecoldxhot’s excitement at winning. “We are overjoyed! The competition itself is an overwhelming experience and we are happy that all our hard work, the hours that we spent practising in preparation for the finals, has finally paid off.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to meet Gamblerz Crew and train with our idols. We hope to learn from them, not only to become better dancers but also on setting up a successful dance studio, which we hope to achieve in the next five years,” Ooi said.

F&N Freestylz Show Ur Moves drew 103 teams from all over Malaysia. Participants had to impress judges during on-the-spot auditions or via video submissions at the F&N Freestylz roadshow held at over 140 locations nationwide since May to gain entry.
