THE Puchong Basketball Association (PBA) became the champions of the Merdeka Community Bowling championships held at the Sunway Megalanes recently.
The team, comprising a group of basketball enthusiasts, accumulated 2,149 pins to win the gold medal by a massive 66 points.
In second place were PP Seksyen 24 Indah with 2,083 followed by SS4C Rukun Tetangga sector on 2,016 pins.
The one-day championships was organised by the Petaling District Tenpin Bowling Association (PTBDP) and the Petaling District Unity and Integration Department in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebrations.

The sponsors were Network Foods Malaysia, the distributors of M150 energy drinks and Tudor Gold chocolates, and Sunway Pyramid.
Response for the championships was overwhelming and the organisers had to turn away about 10 teams. A total of 48 teams, each comprising four players, took part in the championships.
Besides the team event, the championships also had individual categories, for which prizes were also awarded. In the men’s individual section, Alvin Neo emerged the champion with 583 pinfalls, followed by Kua Jian Wen (574) and Ajah Maiden (571), while Wong Yoke Cheng was the winner in the women’s individual category on 547 with Victoria Chin (534) and Nadhirah Mohamed (518) second and third respectively.
The PDTBA also donated RM5,000 to the Rainbow Women Home as part of their community social responsibility programme.
Network Foods Malaysia acting general manager Thoo Thean Beng gave away the prizes to the winners.
