Khalid stays loyal to bubur lambuk

What say you on the issue below?

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is not one to break fast on fast food or even western cuisine.

Ramadan staple: Bubur lambuk is cooked with santan, meat and spices.

Somehow, his taste buds yearn for food that has long been the Malay staple for buka puasa like the famous bubur lambuk.

Although it is not the MB’s favourite Ramadan dish, he said he felt at home eating the traditional rice porridge.

“Most people like to have the bubur lambuk as the starter but I prefer to start of with dates and fruits and make the bubur lambuk part of the main course and even as supper,” he said.

A light breaking of fast: Khalid eating the bubur lambuk.

Asked whether he felt that the taste of the bubur lambuk has changed since his childhood days, Khalid said there had been only minimal changes.

“I think the main recipe is still the same, it’s just that people like to experiment by adding different flavours to it,” he said.

Bubur lambuk is rice porridge cooked with chicken or beef meat and santan. Other ingredients such as onion and spices are optional.
