KUANTAN: An Indonesian man was found dead with electrical wires tied round his neck behind a workers’ quarters in Bukit Serdang, Rompin on Tuesday.
State CID spokesman ASP Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said the man identified as 21-year-old Rahman from Lombok was hired by the Bukit Serdang Farmers Association.
She added that the body was discovered by one of his fellow workers who was getting ready for work at about 7am.
“He was found lying face up under a cempedak (jackfruit) tree with electrical wires round his neck.
“The worker then told his supervisor who lodged a police report,” she said at her office here yesterday.
She added that the supervisor, in his report, said he suspected the worker had committed suicide.
However, a post mortem revealed that the injuries were not consistent with that of a suicide, said ASP Noor Asyikin.
The police have classified the case as murder and it was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, she added.
The police also detained 11 people, aged between 19 and 39, from the workers’ quarters to help in the investigation, she said.
