Help present Malaysia in positive light, envoys urged

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has called on the diplomatic corp here to help Malaysia present a more positive image to the world.

Najib said he felt that Malaysia was at times not fully understood and viewed negatively especially through foreign media coverage.

Warm reception: Najib greeting Japan ambassador to Malaysia Masahiko Horie while the other envoys wait their turn during an Interactive Session and Iftar hosted by the Foreign Ministry at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya.

“It is sometimes blown out of proportion - we try to manage because it is not our intention to portray Malaysia negatively but it happens.

“I hope you (the diplomatic corp) will provide us with the support so that people will understand us more,” he said during an interactive session with the diplomatic corp hosted by Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman and his wife Datin Siti Rubiah Abdul Samad.

Also present was the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Najib said Malaysia would try its best to project a positive image to the world.

In terms of foreign policy, he said, Malaysia would continue to work with all nations.

“We want to see peace, prosperity. We want to work with all nations.”

Najib also called on the international community to work together to tackle global issues such as security, global terror and human trafficking.
