Goldsmith pays price for not having CCTV and alarm

What say you on the issue below?

MALACCA: A goldsmith’s shop which did not install CCTV or an alarm system paid the price when it was robbed of gold and jewellery worth RM600,000.

Two men, one of them believed to be brandishing a pistol, walked into the Soon Soon Goldsmith shop as the owners, a brother and sister in their 30s, opened for business yesterday morning.

In less than two minutes, the robbers put 10 trays of gold and jewellery into a bag before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

State CID chief Asst Comm Salehhudin Abd Rahman said there were no customers in the shop located along the busy Jalan Bunga Raya during the incident.

It was difficult to identify the robbers as they were wearing baseball caps and their faces were covered with handkerchiefs, he said.

ACP Salehhudin said one of the robbers spoke in Cantonese and threatened the goldsmith and his sister with what looked like a pistol.

The siblings, who were still in a state of shock, failed to notice the number plate of the motorcycle used by the robbers.
