Deserving sportsmen to benefit from fund

What say you on the issue below?

THREE young and deserving sports personalities will benefit from this year’s Tan Sri Alex Lee Charity golf championship at the Saujana Golf and Country Club on Nov 9.

The championship is organised by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) to raise funds for the Tan Sri Alex Lee Athletes’ Education Fund.

The fund was set up in 1999 in memory of Lee, who died in a scuba-diving accident off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The championships is a four- men team event. The best three team members’ scores would determine the placing in the championships.

National Sports Association (NSA) must be represented by at least one of its members.

The OCM has set a target of RM1mil so that the revenue generated from the fund could provide at least four annual grants to needy present and former national athletes to further their education.

The entry fee is RM1,600 per team for NSA, sponsors and SGCC members while its RM3,000 for corporations.

Individual will have to pay RM500 each and they will be paired with other individual entries.
