Cops raid Internet gambling premises

KUANTAN: Police in the state continued to clean up premises suspected of offering Internet gambling to patrons with the arrest of 14 people in raids carried out over two days.

They also seized 22 computers from two premises in Ringlet and Tanah Rata in a two-day operation dubbed Ops Dadu, which started on Monday in Cameron Highlands.

The raiding team comprised officers from the headquarters of the state police contingent as well as the Cameron Highlands police district.

Pahang CID spokesperson Asst Supt Noor Asyikin Shamsuri said the first raid was conducted at a snooker outlet at about 9.30pm on Monday in Ringlet.

“The snooker outlet had been renovated to include a room with 13 computers,” she said.

Eleven people, including a caretaker, were arrested during the raid.

She also said those arrested were aged between 18 and 39 and nine computers were confiscated.

ASP Noor Asyikin said three people were arrested, including a caretaker, for allegedly operating an illegal gambling den in the second raid at Taman Royal Lily in Tanah Rata at 2pm the next day,

They were aged between 20 and 48, she said adding, 13 computers were seized.
