WHEN was the last time that you redeemed items with your credit card points?

After accumulating points, it may only entitle you to a small token or you may have to wait for a long time for the item to be delivered to you.

Now with the RCubed Free Shopping, Maybank credit card holders who shop at I Utama can exchange accumulated credit card points for products, services or while dining at restaurants in the shopping centre.

Just look for shops at 1Utama with the RCubed Free Shopping sign, choose an item and bring it to the cashier, let the cashier check your rewards points balance from your credit card, redeem your points in part or full and sign the transaction slip to make payment.

At the launch, 1Utama shopping centre director Datuk Teo Chiang Kok said: It is imperative in today’s dynamic retail industry that we move forward with times and capitalise on new technology.

“An estimated RM550mil worth of credit card reward points are issued nationwide annually and a large portion of these points are either forgotten, not redeemed or burned on expiry.

“RCubed came into the picture as an imaginative, revolutionary, retail solution.

“The entire 1Utama mall is your catalogue of gifts. You are redeeming your gifts at the same value as though you paid in cash, no mark up, no differential pricing,” he said.

He added that 150 outlets had taken part in this programme and more were expected to be on board and one million Maybank treatpoints had been redeemed since the pilot programme on Aug 7.

RCubed Sdn Bhd director Tan Chin said the RCubed (which stands for “Rewarding Redemptions for Retail”) Free Shopping advances the payment transaction to bring true value to customers, malls, merchants and financial institutions.

“We are looking forward to expand RCubed’s mall coverage throughout Malaysia and Singapore,” he said.

Maybank cards, consumer banking head executive vice-president B. Ravintharan said the introduction of RCubed in 1Utama was an added value to customers so that they could enjoy more benefits from being a Maybank customer.

“RCubed presents a revolutionary shopping experience to customers. They can walk into any outlet in 1Utama and shop for free without spending a sen simply by redeeming their TreatPoints.”

Redemption is also available at One World Hotel for dining and even room stays.
