Buried gold ‘surfaces’ behind house

What say you on the issue below?

SENIOR citizen Hamidah Bakar claimed that several sacks containing gold bangles, chains, earrings and other gold items, believed to be ancient treasures, surfaced from the ground behind her house, Kosmo! reported.

She said in December 2004, a friend from Indonesia told her about the buried treasures at the back of her house, which borders the Perak River.

Hamdiah, 65, from Kampung Muhibah, Tapah, said six others and her had to perform some rituals and chanting to “pull out” the treasures.

Her friend Kamaluddin Mohd Zain, 70, who is part of the group, said the ritual had nothing to do with appeasing the spirits or black magic.

According to him, the ceremony was conducted for about 20 minutes after Maghrib prayers.

According to a curator from the National Museum, anyone who finds old artefacts or treasures with historical value would have to report the finding to the National Heritage Department.

“After the value of the artefact is determined, the finder will be given a proper share,” he told Kosmo!.

However, he said that if a person failed to report the discovery, he or she could be fined up to RM50,000 or jailed up to five years, or both.

> Selangor Religious Department (Jais) enforcement head Mohd Rais Rasid said online syndicates providing call girl services to residential areas could not escape from the law forever, reported Metro Ahad.

Mohd Rais, who viewed it as a serious offence, said the unpleasant act would surface sooner or later.

“Those who know of such activities should report it to Jais so that action could be taken,” he added.
