Boy loses five fingers in firecracker mishap

What say you on the issue below?

ALOR SETAR: It will be a bleak Hari Raya Aidilfitri for a 15-year-old boy who lost all the five fingers on his left hand after a firecracker exploded in his hand.

Mohd Luqman Abu Din from Kampung Teloi Tua, Sik, sustained the injury at about 5pm on Monday.

His mother Che Zainab Che Din, 52, said she only realised what had happened to her youngest son when she saw him rushing towards her with blood oozing from his left hand.

“My son bought the ball-type firecracker at a shop in the village and was playing with it behind our house.

Muhd Lukman resting in the hospital in Alor Setar.

“He lit the firecracker and was about to throw it when it exploded,” she said when met at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here yesterday.

“I was told by a doctor that my son’s left fingers could not be saved. This is a bleak Hari Raya for him and also my family,” she said.

She said that Mohd Luqman would be sitting for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah next month.

“Since he writes with his right hand, I believe he can still sit for the examination,” she said.
