KOTA TINGGI: Thirty-nine Indonesian illegal immigrants, including a baby boy, were detained along with a couple who were harbouring them following a raid on a house in Teluk Ramunia here.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house at 10.30pm on Friday and detained the illegals, who included 14 women.

A local couple, in their 40s, were arrested for harbouring them.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Osman Mohamed Sebot said the foreigners had been in the country for more than three months.

“We believe they were smuggled into the country via Pengerang or nearby Sungai Rengit. We are investigating a syndicate,” he said.
