KUCHING: Fairs that serve as a one-stop centre for childcare products, services and knowledge are an integral part of a child‘s development.
Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said these fairs served as a platform on which parents could be introduced to modern childcare techniques and also the latest information on health and learning tips.
“This is what the ministry encourages. These fairs bring in quality products to our shores and parents are also educated on the best ways to bring up their children through the talks given by experts and paediatricians,” she told reporters when opening the third annual Poppies Precious Little Ones Fair at The Spring shopping mall here yesterday.
Fatimah said given the rising living cost these days, modern parents would want to be assured that they were getting their money’s worth by spending on quality goods.
“And what better way to be assured than coming to these fairs and learning directly from the experts.”
Poppies director Olivia Ling said that the company constantly saw the need to give parents details on how to provide the best childcare.
“This is why we have these fairs to link parents and the professionals. This is the added value we provide besides presenting them with a variety of quality products offered at reasonable price.”
The fair, which began on Sept 30 and ends today, features 43 booths and four kiosks.
