IT WAS “dress-up day” for the orphans at Asrama Darul Falah Perkim (Asdaf) when Rotary members from District Central Damansara and representatives of Bata Malaysia visited them recently.

The two parties had joined forces to stir up the Raya spirit by giving the chidren new school shoes and duit raya.

A visit to remember: The Rotary Club of Central Damansara members and Bata representatives with the children.

The youngsters, neatly dressed in traditional baju melayu and baju kurung, eagerly awaited their turns to receive the gifts.

“During this festive period, every individual ought to have the opportunity to feel celebratory, and we hope that our little token has lifted their spirit,” said Bata Malaysia senior marketing manager Datuk James Selvaraj.

The donation was part of Bata’s festive programme, for which the company had allocated RM1mil.

The programme caters not only for Hari Raya, but the upcoming Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year.

Foundation chairman Yaakob Lazim thanked the Rotary Club members and Bata for their initiative.

“We hope to be able to this again next year, and hopefully, by then, we’ll have more to give!” said Rotary Club of Central Damansara president Siti Subaidah.

Asdaf is an orphanage for Muslim children located in Bukit Persekutuan, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, and houses 52 youngsters aged between eight and 17 years.
