KUALA LUMPUR: A woman, believed to be the sister of a murder victim whose body was found buried in cement, has been detained by police.
The 30-something woman was picked up at a house in Sungai Buloh at around 7am yesterday, said Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah.
“Hopefully, after questioning her, we will have a clearer picture of what happened to the deceased,” he said, adding that the dead woman was identified as Chitra, 43, a divorcee.
Police are still looking for the deceased’s brother-in-law S. Muniandy, 41, to help in the investigations, said ACP Abdul Rahim.
It was reported earlier that a family dispute could be a motive for Chitra’s murder.
The murder was discovered on Tuesday when an overpowering stench led a building owner to a staircase landing at a four-storey shoplot near the Selayang wholesale market where he discovered toes protruding from the floor.
On closer inspection, he discovered rotting flesh.
Police who believed the woman was murdered last week and buried in the cement took several hours to hack away the concrete floor where they found the remains of the woman.
