THE Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) has launched a campaign Jom Naik Bas to encourage the residents to use the Nadi Putra buses to work in order to overcome congestion and parking problems at the government administrative offices.
In a statement issued by the council, PPj Corporate Communications deputy director Zaharah Selamat, said the campaign was in line with the federal government’s initiative to see more people, both residents as well as tourists to Putrajaya, use the public transport available.
“This is to overcome the problems of finding parking spots and to discourage roadside and double parking which is caused by the limited parking bays at the government office blocks,’’ said Zaharah.
According to City Service director Datuk Abd Ghani Ahmad, there are 70 buses operating every 15-20 minutes during peak hours and 20-30 minutes at off-peak hours.
Abdul Ghani added that PPj was adding another 80 more buses to the current fleet of 70 and this would be done in stages until the middle of next year.
“We hope with the additional buses, the public would use the public transport.
“We are also upgrading the services in residential areas and would be announcing new routes to make all areas within Putrajaya accessible,’’ said Abdul Ghani.
PPJ is undertaking a promotional blitz with posters and flyers being distributed at residential areas and government offices to create an awareness on the Park and Ride Nadi Putra services.
“We are on a campaign to encourage government servants to leave their cars at home and jump onto the Nadi Putra buses to work.
“We have around 250,000 passengers but we are hopeful of reaching a higher target once the system is in place by the midlle of next year,’’ said Abdul Ghani.
