Throat swabs on warded patients

PETALING JAYA: Throat swabs for the Influenza A(H1N1) are only conducted on warded patients.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said those who received outpatient treatment did not need confirmation tests.

He was responding to the public enquiry via the ministry’s hotline about the testing and treatment of H1N1.

In a statement yesterday, Dr Ismail reminded the public to bring along their Influenza A(H1N1) kit everywhere as the Hari Raya celebration drew closer.

He said the people should bring along the kit when they shop, visit relatives or take public transportation.
