Speculation rife that lots in Bdr Sg Long Sec 7 have been sold to unsuspecting buyers

What say you on the issue below?

THE strip of land in Bandar Sungai Long Section 7, Selangor, that was cordoned off by unidentified individuals last year, was designated as an open space by the Kajang Municipal Council.

Confirmation on the land status was recently obtained by councillor Tan Han Kuo from the council’s planning department. More information is now being sought.

No entry: The land that had been designated an open space in Section 7 Bandar Sungai Long has been fenced up.

Tan, who had highlighted the matter at a special full board meeting on Aug 25 which was convened specifically for complaints, said the land was originally assumed to be road reserve until fencing was put up last year.

“Residents were unsure of the land status and brought the matter to my attention. I then raised the issue with the council’s planning department and at the infrastructure committee meeting,” Tan told reporters recently.

Bandar Sungai Long Section 7 Neighbourhood Watch committee chairman Jackson Kang said an application forwarded to the MPKj in March 2008 for a place, near the land, to set up their operations centre was rejected.

“Just as we were about to propose an alternative site on the strip of land, bulldozers moved in and started clearing the area. We queried the sub-contractor hired for the job and he showed us some documents dated March 2007,” Kang said.

From this, the committee members learnt the land had been sub-divided into four lots, measuring 732 sq m, 594 sq m, 595 sq m and 737 sq m. Speculation is now rife that the land has been sold to unsuspecting buyers.

Meanwhile, Tan said he was gathering more information to determine the chain of events and ascertain how the land fell into the hands of one or more individuals when it was designated as open space by the council.
