HAVING more policemen on duty during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays is not the answer to reducing the number of house break-ins during the period.
Instead, Putrajaya police chief Asst Comm Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said residents leaving home for the holidays should ensure that they took precautions to protect their homes.
Be prepared: ACP Abdul Razak giving out goodie bags containing important tips on safety measures for the balik kampung exodus. Although the campaign was held only once a year, it must act as a reminder that precautionary measures were important throughout the year, ACP Abdul razak told reporters after launching a Balik Kampung campaign at the Alamanda Shopping Centre in Putrajaya.
ACP Abdul Razak said shoppers at Alamanda who were mostly Putrajaya residents were briefed on the safety measures to take when leaving their houses unattended during this festive season.
They also received a goodie bag each containing tips on home safety as well as police hotlines throughout the country.
According to ACP Abdul Razak, more than 70% of Putrajaya residents “balik kampung” every year.
“On our part, we conduct surveillance 24 hours. Residents can help in this campaign by taking pro-active measures before leaving for their kampung,’’ added Abdul Razak.
