RM250 extra for civil servants working in Nusajaya

What say you on the issue below?

MUAR: The state government hopes that the RM250 allowance approved for civil servants serving at the new state administrative centre in Nusajaya as an incentive will help ease their burden.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the allowance was paid as the Government understood the problems endured by civil servants who had to travel to Kota Iskandar.

“This is not a permanent thing,” he said.

Abdul Ghani added that the matter had been approved at the state exco level.

He added that paying an incentive was not a new thing as civil servants who moved from government offices in Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya also received a similar allowance for a period of time.

It is learnt that the state treasury has already sent out letters to the respective government agencies informing them that the payments would be made for 18 months beginning next month.

The allowance is known as a “special moving and adjustment incentive.”.

This means those who moved to Kota Iskandar in January will be paid backdated allowances, said an official familiar with the proposal.

Presently there are several thousand civil servants serving at Kota Iskandar.

The official added that those eligible were all state government and state agency staff, management and professional staff and contract workers based in Kota Iskandar.

However, those on study and maternity leave and department heads and their drivers who were provided with government vehicles are not eligible, the official said.
