Restaurant holds birthday tribute for MJ

What say you on the issue below?

AS A tribute to what could have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday on Aug 29, Cavells Restaurant and Bar organised a Michael Jackson impersonator competition, a lucky draw, an auction and two band performances at its premises in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Ode to Jackson: Siva hitting the right moves.

One of the impersonators, MJ Siva thrilled the crowd with the trademark leather jacket and sequined socks/gloves while performing the famous moonwalk.

Then three-piece band Retro Edge continued with the tribute by belting out some of the popular tunes of the King of Pop.

Renowned percussionist Lewis Pragasam also took the stage with popular band Quatro Soneros and got the crowd moving.

Restaurant general manager Aaron Carvalho said he had been a Jackson fan since the age of 10 and grew up listening to his songs.

Carvalho admitted to having a vast collection of albums and other MJ memorabilia.

Apart from doing his part to preserve the memory of the great legend, Carvalho also did his part for charity.

Earlier he presented a cheque for RM4,500 to Rumah Ozanam.

The money was raised by the restaurant through a special event held for Jackson fans on July 31.

Singing from the soul: Retro Edge entertaining the crowd with popular hits of MJ.

The cheque was presented to the home’s honorary secretary Datin Elsie Das and treasurer Kennedy Soloman.

According to Carvalho, he chose the home as it was one of the charity homes selected by Jackson during his visit to Malaysia back in 1996.
