‘Play role in education of Indian students’

What say you on the issue below?

MIC branches should play a major role in the educational development of Indian students, reported Tamil Nesan.

It quoted Johor MIC secretary M.M. Samy as saying that they should pay more attention to the welfare of secondary school students.

He said a survey revealed that many Indian secondary students were having disciplinary problems due to a lack of parental guidance and mentors. Social organisations with the support of teachers must organise more seminars, discussions and workshops to ensure they follow the right path.

> Malaysia Nanban quoted International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed as saying that the Government was in the process of drafting a strategic plan to groom about one million students at higher learning institutions to become future leaders.

The Kelantan Umno liaison chairman said the move was necessary to groom sincere and knowledgeable leaders as they would determine the future direction of the country.
