KUCHING: Padungan assemblyman Dominique Ng Kim Ho has filed a defamation suit against Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen.
Ng of PKR alleged that Chong, the Sarawak DAP state secretary and also Kota Sentosa assemblyman, had defamed him in several press statements published by two Chinese newspapers.
“The most serious allegation was when he accused me of being a ‘stumbling block’ to the co-operation between PKR and DAP,’’ he said yesterday. Ng named See Hua Daily News and Sin Chew Media Corp, which published the press statements, as co-defendants.
He had not sought any amount of damages and would leave it to the court to decide.
Chong said he received the writ on Monday, adding that he was not afraid of the law suit.
“I have learnt from the experience and am used to it,’’ he added.
Chong’s father Siaw Chiang had earlier brought a similar defamation suit against Ng who was the former PKR state liaison chairman.
“Siaw Chiang sued me over an incident during the March 2008 general election. I have counter-sued him over another incident,’’ added Ng.
Siaw Chiang was instrumental in bringing DAP into Sarawak about 30 years ago.
