KOTA BARU: Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has called on Datuk Ibrahim Ali to “open his eyes” and look at the development that is taking place in Kelantan.
“It is typical of Ibrahim to come out with a statement like that,” said Nik Aziz in response to a recent call by the Pasir Mas MP who wanted the PAS spiritual leader to step down as mentri besar for failing to bring development to Kelantan.
“He should open his eyes and look at the development that is taking place in Kota Baru, Kuala Krai or Gua Musang.”
“As far as I am concerned, Ibrahim is a failure himself,” Nik Aziz told reporters after attending Kelantan PAS Hari Raya gathering held in front of the Sultan Mohamad IV Stadium yesterday.
On Saturday, Nik Abdul Aziz fired the first salvo by asking Ibrahim to vacate the Pasir Mas seat because his actions were detrimental to PAS.
He said Ibrahim could not have won the seat if PAS did not give the leeway, adding that it was not right for him to prosper under the auspices of PAS.
Ibrahim, in a cynical reply, said Nik Aziz was too old to hold the mentri besar’s post and that he should give way to others.
Ibrahim added that he had no reason to step down as MP because he had a responsibility to serve his constituency.
“Whatever allocation I received as an MP had been used for my constituents and the state government did not do anything to help.
“In fact Nik Aziz failed to carry out his duties since he took up office 20 years ago and that is why he should relinquish his posts as the mentri besar and the Chempaka assemblyman,” Ibrahim added.
