PYOTravel.com aims for 22% higher margin with upgraded portal

KUALA LUMPUR: Home-grown online travel agency PYOTravel.com aims to capture sales of up to RM60mil in the current financial year ending March 31 (FY10), thanks to its recently-upgraded portal.

“We also aim to increase our (profit) margins to 20%-22% from 15% in the last financial year (FY09),” general manager Francis Chin told a media briefing yesterday.

PYOTravel.com, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Pacific Bhd, made RM20mil in sales in FY09.

“The upgraded version of PYOTravel.com portal allows travellers the freedom to plan their travel in Asia.

“Here, they will find easy access to 10,000 hotels, 1,000 holiday packages as well as many major airlines,” Chin said.

Powered by a new and robust operating system, coupled with strong support given by its wide network of travel partners, Chin said the portal was able to “guarantee” real-time rates and provide “instant confirmation” based on the availability of hotel rooms, flights and land packages in Asia to travellers.

Call centres have been set up in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai and Manila.

Chin said with the latest portal and a wider array of products combined with good partnerships, the company was targeting to grow its customer membership from the current 35,000 to 100,000 by March next year.
