Nationwide charity food delivery

What say you on the issue below?

KFC’s Projek Penyayang and Pizza Hut’s Nationwide Charity Delivery got off to a rousing start when free meals were given to several orphanages and charitable homes in Malaysia.

Both programmes were run over a two-day period (Sept 8 and 9) during the month of Ramadan.

KFC and Pizza Hut gave out meals and pizzas to more than 13,000 residents in more than 150 homes, making it the single biggest joint nationwide charity food delivery ever carried out by the two popular restaurant chains, covering the length and breadth of the country, including remote areas in Sabah and Sarawak.

Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim, chairman of QSR Brands Bhd (QSR) and KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd (KFCH), operators of Pizza Hut and KFC, flagged off the deliveries at a breaking of fast ceremony held at Ayamas Food Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of KFCH, in Port Klang.

Special guests at the event were more than 400 orphans from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Kg. Damai, Persatuan Anak-Anak Yatim & Ibu Tunggal, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Daerah Sabak Bernam, Pusat Jagaan Titian Kaseh, Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Selangor, Saint Barnabas Home & Community Centre and Persatuan Rumah Kanak-Kanak Disayangi KIDS.

Muhammad Ali also presented the children with goodie bags containing Hari Raya gifts.

The breaking of fast was also attended by over 2,500 QSR and KFCH employees and guests as well as members of the media.

KFCH’s community service projects such as Tabung Penyayang KFC and Projek Penyayang KFC regularly help orphans and poor children.

Tabung Penyayang KFC is a children’s fund into which a percentage of revenue generated through KFC Chicky Meals sales goes in.

There are collection boxes at all KFC outlets to enable its customers to also donate to the fund.

The fund makes regular donations to orphanages, welfare homes and other needy homes and institutions.

Held every quarter, Projek Penyayang KFC provides free meals to orphanages and homes for the needy every quarter while Pizza Hut regularly makes nationwide charity pizza deliveries during Ramadan and festive occasions.
