JOHOR BARU: The historical and cultural identity of nine Chinese villages in the Kulai parliament constituency will be translated into a book to enable the younger generation to learn about their heritage, said Kulai MP Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting.
“The project will be a combined effort between the Kulai MCA division and researchers from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.

“We want the younger generation to learn the roots of their culture and strengths of people who reside in these villages,” he said, adding that the villagers were recognised for their handiwork and ability to withstand challenging conditions.
“They also give priority to education and uphold community values.
“The younger generation need to learn these values and continue with the tradition in order to succeed,” he said.
Ong said the research project would take over a year to complete.
He also said that efforts were taken to improve the living conditions of the villagers including upgrading basic amenities and the various Chinese schools.
The nine villages are Kampung Baru Bukit Batu, Kampung Baru Ayer Bendan, Kampung Baru Sedenak, Kampung Baru Kelapa Sawit, Kampung Baru Seng Kang, Kampung Baru Kulai, Kampung Baru Saleng, Kampung Baru Senai and Kampung Baru Seelong.
