KLANG: A mob of enraged parents thronged a Klang court yesterday to vent their anger on a man accused of raping a nine-year-old girl.
The crowd, mostly single parents and poor people who had placed their children in an orphanage under the man’s care, smacked, spat and hurl profanities at the man while he was being taken to the magistrate’s court to be remanded.
Among those who attacked the man were relatives of two boys who were picked up by the police last Saturday over the same case.
According to sources, the boys were picked up after the man, who is the founder of the home, turned them in to the authorities when the girl complained about the alleged rape.
The 45-year-old man was taken into custody by the police at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Klang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Mat Yusop confirmed that the two boys arrested earlier were still under police custody.
As at press time, their families were still keeping vigil in front of the police station demanding their release.
