PETALING JAYA: The father of a woman who was arrested over the murder of a businessman has also been arrested.

Both father and daughter, who were on the same flight from India, were picked up by the police upon their arrival at the KL International Airport at about 7pm on Wednesday.

“We have detained the father as well to assist in our investigation,” Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Jalil Hassan said yesterday.

He said more arrests could be made as police continued to investigate the case in which the victim’s body was found in a bag that was dumped in an undergrowth along the Karak Highway.

The 30-year-old woman, identified as the main suspect, left the country for India with her daughter on Aug 28, a day after her husband’s body was dumped in the jungle.

She was allegedly staying with her family in India before they persuaded her to surrender.

The body of the 33-year-old restaurant owner-cum-money changer, was dumped by a man who was told that it was a “golden statue.”

He went back to retrieve the “statue” but discovered that it was a body of the trader upon opening the bag.

The man was still being remanded to assist in police investigations.
