PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Cor- ruption Commission (MACC) has ordered its Malacca office to investigate a claim that MIC delegates there have been offered a RM300 bribe in return for their votes in the coming party polls.

In a statement here, the commission said it viewed seriously Malaysia Nanban’s front page report yesterday that MIC delegates in Malacca were given RM300 and a CD by a candidate in the polls to vote for him.

“The commission has ordered Malacca MACC to carry out preliminary investigations into the matter.

“It will also monitor the campaigns of the various candidates as well as the party’s election process to avoid any money politics.

“We ask any delegate who has been offered such bribes to come forward and report it to the MACC. Any offer or acceptance of bribes to vote for a candidate is an offence under the MACC Act,” it said.
