SHAH ALAM: Former mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo has lodged a police report, saying he received a death threat in an anonymous letter.

In his report, Dr Mohd Khir said he was going through his mail and Hari Raya greeting cards in his office in Asentra Business Park Glenmarie here at 10am yesterday when he opened an envelope containing two handwritten pages.

Serious matter: Khir with the report that he lodged in Shah Alam Thursday.

The writer accused Dr Mohd Khir of working to topple the Pakatan Rakyat state government by influencing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency to investigate Selangor assemblymen, and warned him to stop.

The writer also threatened to find Dr Mohd Khir wherever he was and “shoot or use a poison dart that can kill within a few seconds.”

Dr Mohd Khir said the stack of mail was sent by his assistant from his Sungai Panjang constituency office in Sabak Bernam yesterday morning.

Met outside the Shah Alam district police station at 12.30pm after he had made the report, Dr Mohd Khir said he viewed the threat seriously and was worried about his family’s safety.

“I have received a number of threatening calls and text messages which I didn’t take seriously but this letter is serious. I hope the police will investigate and take the necessary action,” he said.

He added that he would cut down his travelling, especially at night, as a precautionary measure.

Shah Alam district police chief Asst Comm Noor Azam Jamaludin said police were investigating the case as criminal intimidation.
