‘Herbs’ turn out to be syabu

KOTA KINABALU: Customs personnel arrested a man who came to a courier company office at Likas near here to claim a parcel marked as Chinese herbs. It actually contained the synthetic drug syabu with a street value of nearly RM100,000.

Sabah Customs Department director Datuk Yusop Mansor said the 43-year-old man was arrested when he came to pick up the package.

The 300gm drugs were hidden between Chinese medicinal herbs.

Yusop said the package had been sent from Kuala Lumpur.

The case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act that provides for the death sentence upon conviction.
