EMBARK on a culinary journey of tantalising Malaysian kampung-style dishes at Saffron Brasserie in Ancasa Hotel & Spa, Kuala Lumpur, this Ramadan.

The promotion, which features more than 60 dishes daily, showcases a variety of delights from northern Perlis to southern Johor to to tease and please your palate.

Start your meal with your choice from the extensive spread of appetisers and soups, such as typical kampung-style ulam-ulaman, ikan masin, tauhu bakar, bergedil, tempe bercili, ikan bilis berkacang, pecal, telur ikan goreng kunyit, tom yam ayam, sup kambing berempah, cucur udang, goreng paru and gado-gado.

Then you might perhaps like to check out the specially set-up stalls that offer nasi ulam, rojak buah, otak–otak, ikan bakar, kerang rebus, apam balik, cendol, asam laksa, mee bandung, sharwarma, roti canai, sotong kangkung, murtabak, yong tau foo and a host of other goodies.

Look out, too, for the Arabian corner that serves up fantastic Middle Eastern delights daily.

The main courses include popular dishes with condiments such as nasi lemak, nasi hujan panas (served with ayam madu, daging hitam manis, dalca ayam and papadum), nasi tomato (served with with ayam kuzi, kari daging, acar Malaysia and keropok), nasi kacang dhall (served with kari ayam, daging kandar and pajeri nenas), nasi minyak and nasi beringin.

Don’t forget to leave room for dessert, as you will be spoilt for choice with hard-to-resist bubur labu, pengat pisang, bubur cha-cha, rempeyek, tapai pulut, assorted French pastries, badak berendam, puteri ayu, local kuih and fresh fruits. Other delights to tempt the sweet-toothed include creme brulee, cream puffs, fruit tartlets, mousse in glasses, jellies, puddings, dodol, wajik, chocolate eclairs. The chocolate fountain with marshmallows is, of course, not to be missed.
