KUALA LUMPUR: After being married for 15 years, businessman Yew Wai Hon and his wife Tan Siew Jing were elated to have a double celebration as their first baby was born on the auspicious date of 090909.

Tan, 34, gave birth to a 3.23kg boy at 10.41am. The boy was the second 090909 baby to be delivered at the Prince Court Medical Centre here yesterday.

“We are fated to have a 090909 baby because my doctor advised me to have a Caesarean section and this has to be done before my baby’s due date on Sept 18,” said the IT specialist.

Yew, 39, said the family considered the birth a fortunate event and would get a feng shui master to advise on a suitable name for the baby.

In another ward, businessman Mohd Suffian Suboh, 32, and Donna Lim, 35, also had their first bundle of joy.

Noah Iman is also the first grandchild in both their families. At 2.94kg, he was the first baby born at medical centre at 9.09am.

“We decided on our baby’s name a long time ago,” said Lim.

Lim said they were married last October but did not expect their baby to arrive earlier than the Sept 27 due date. She had a Caesarean section due to a minor health problem.

Also sharing the memorable day were Azwari Huslan, 30, a geoscientist with Petronas and Siti Sarah, 29, whose third child Harraz Hafiy was born at 11.25am. He weighed 2.88kg.

“The happiness is more than words can say. Our dream came true as we were hoping our baby would arrive early on this special day before my due date of Sept 15,” Siti said.

Azwari said Harraz was God’s gift and a good sign for the family as he was born during Ramadan. “Hopefully, we can get a girl next year on 101010,” he said.

Chief corporate officer Mimi Asche said the medical centre expected six deliveries yesterday. Three boys and a girl were born at press time.
