City Hall delivers Raya cheer

THE annual buka puasa event by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on Sept 10 was a quiet and quick affair.

About 300 people turned up for the function, which took place at the DBKL headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.

It was hosted by Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail who was present along with his wife Datin Norkhayati Hashim.

Also present were DBKL director-general Datuk Salleh Yusup, DBKL deputy director-general Datuk Normah Malik, DBKL deputy director-general services, Datuk Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz and DBKL deputy director-general Zulkifli Ibrahim.

Guests gathered at the auditorium on the 30th floor of the building for a contribution ceremony.

Some 187 orphans and 28 disabled youths, aged 17 years and below received RM250 each. After the ceremony, the guests proceeded to the lobby to break fast.

Before Azan, there was an Al-Quran reading by Muhamad Ahmad Zahid, the winner of the international level Hafix Al Quran 2009.

There was also a Nasyid performance by DBKL team Ar-Ridwan. After breaking fast, the event ended at about 8.30pm, with a note of thanksgiving.
