GEORGE TOWN: The purpose of calling for the MCA’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) is not about showing support for or going against anyone but to ensure better party integration, sacked MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said.
“It’s not about pro-party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat or anti-me, but more importantly, we want to see the party united after the EGM,” he told a press conference before a dinner with his supporters here yesterday.
He also said the EGM has to be well organised and thus party secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng should facilitate it properly.
“But he has been secretive about the EGM (and its resolution),” Dr Chua said.
He added that the EGM has to be handled cautiously and should not lead to more controversial issues.
