BARELY a month after Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau and his wife Carol Chu walked hand-in-hand upon arriving in Hong Kong, the couple are avoiding being seen together in public.

China Press reported that the couple, who returned to the Chinese territory after spending nine days in Malaysia, left separately using separate exits last Thursday.

Wearing face masks, they left the airport in two cars, with Chu being accompanied by Lau’s assistant.

Earlier, Lau, who will be celebrating his 48th birthday on Sunday, had a reception with 1,500 of his fans and his parents. Chu was not present.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a 13-year-old girl, who received a liver transplant from a former television show host, died eight months after the procedure.

Chew Hoong Ling, 29, donated 60% of her liver to the girl from Kuala Lumpur at a private hospital in Singapore on Jan 14.

Chew said she received a call from the girl’s aunt last Saturday saying that the teenager was in the intensive care unit. The girl died a day later.

“I have no regrets donating part of my liver to her. It will be worth it if others decide to donate their organs after reading our story.

“She was a very strong and cheerful girl,” said Chew, who learnt about the girl’s condition on the Internet.
