PEI Yuan High School in Kampar is getting a thorough facelift in anticipation of its 100th anniversary celebration next year.
Board of governors deputy director Liu Nam Chuan said work on the school started in 2007.
“We started out by upgrading a few physical structures here and there.
“After that, we began construction of several new buildings that will house classrooms, a library and a hall.
“We will most likely hold our graduation ceremony at the new hall this year once it is completed,” he said during the school’s Teacher Appreciation Day celebration recently.
Liu noted that a teaching building had undergone reconstruction under the third phase of the makeover.
It would be completed by next July, he added.
“The entire school will be ready for its centennial celebrations on Nov 10,” said Liu.
During the Teacher Appreciation Day celebration, Liu also announced salary adjustments for the school’s 40 teachers and administrative staff.
“Next year, there will be an increase in your remuneration.
“Likewise, your benefits will be revised,” he said to the thunderous applause of those present.
He further encouraged the teachers to undergo training programmes in order to become well-rounded educators.
