Foundation comes to hawkers aid

What say you on the issue below?

KUANTAN: Retired hawker Fuan Ah Choon had just underwent an eye operation but the medication required for follow-up treatments were expensive and not available in the public hospital.

Since he had stopped working, Fuan had no source of income and was worried about not being able to fully regain his vision.

However, his daughter got to know about the 1MCA Medical Foundation and Fuan applied for the financial assitance from Kuantan MCA.

Recently, Fuan received his cheque of RM4,800 after his application was approved.

Timely aid: Ti (second from left) handing over a cheque of RM4,800 to Fuan (wearing red T-shirt) at the division’s office here recently. The financial assistance was provided under the 1MCA Medical Foundation.

It was presented by Kuantan MCA chief Datuk Ti Lian Ker at the division’s office here.

‘’I did not know about this fund until my daughter told me.

‘’I am very thankful of the assistance rendered and I will definitely tell my friends and families about the fund provided by MCA.

“It is a good gesture and it should be made known to as many people possible,’’ he told reporters before the cheque presentation. Fuan also said his eye sight was getting better now.

Ti urged more people who required financial assistance for any medical treatment to come forward as the fund was meant for all Malaysians, regardless race and religion.

Pahang had about 50 applications and some RM200,000 had been dispersed, he added.

‘’You do not even have to be a party member.

‘’If you need assistance, come to our office and fill up the forms,’’ he added.

The processes were simple and decision would normally be made within two months, said Ti who is also a central committee member.

However, it would be a one-off payment only, he added.

To date, a sum of RM5mil had been disbursed to 300 recipients nationwide, he said.
