F1 driver ‘ambushes’ customers

What say you on the issue below?

SIX customers were “ambushed” by Mercedez GP Petronas driver Nico Rosberg at two of its Petronas service stations (PSS).

In an attempt to bring the international Formula One touch to its customers in Malaysia, Petronas Dagangan Berhad recently invited the Formula One driver to surprise customers at its Petronas Mutiara Damansara and Petronas TTDI stations.

As part of the company’s ‘Experience to Believe’ initiative, Rosberg was scheduled to appear at these two PSS and offer to fuel-up the customers’ vehicles.

Delighted at their stroke of luck, the customers watched wide-eyed as the Formula One sensation took over the nozzle and started fuelling up their vehicles.

At your ser vice: Rosberg fuelling up for Hashim.

The surprise visit was specially organised in collaboration with Petronas Motosrports and Petronas Dagangan Berhad as part of their commitment to provide a unique fuelling experience for its valued customers.

During the day, six customers, picked at random, found themselves the privileged ones to meet Rosberg up close and in person and have their vehicles fuelled up by the F1 star.

At the event, Retail Business Division senior general manager Izuddin Husaini Mohd Yusoff said: “At Petronas Dagangan Berhad, we continue to go ‘All The Way’ to enrich our customers’ experience — be it the products and services that we offer or through the various customer engagement activities that we organise.”

“When our valued customers step into any of our 962 Petronas service stations nationwide, we want them to know that what Petronas offers is a unique fuelling experience.

“That is why we have specially arranged this surprise visit by Nico Rosberg. Going forward, PDB will continue to provide our customers the ‘Xtra’ element through various on-the-ground activities,” he added.

Rosberg was in Malaysia en route to the next round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Japan.

He visited the PSS Mutiara Damansara first where he spent about 15 minutes interacting with the customers.

Following this, he went to the PSS Taman Tun Dr Ismail, where he was surrounded by fans the moment he stepped out of his car.

One of the customers, Syed Hashim Omar Aljunid said: “I was really surprised! It was definitely a good kind of surprise — to have a Formula One world championship driver fuel up my car.”

Another unsuspecting customer Mohd Arif Abu Bakar was equally surprised.

“I just got my new car and the Petronas Service Station was my first stop to fill up the tank.

“I really did not expect to see a Formula One driver here, what more to help me pump petrol.

“It was definitely a double joy for me — a day that I will cherish for a long time.”

Indeed, at Petronas service stations, it is more than just fuelling vehicles.

It is a one-stop centre that comes with shopping, banking, dining, on-going rewards and now, with a possibility of having a Formula One driver fuel up for you!
