STYLO has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mercedes-Benz India to stage the “Stylo & the 7 Deadly Sins: Recycling is the new black” in the run-up to the inaugural Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The event which will be hosted in Mumbai, India, also sees the involvement of airline partner AirAsia X and celebrity haunt Hype.
Stylo has been a key feature amongst well-heeled fans of the F1 since its inception.
It often uses avant-garde fashion as its platform, themed theatrical presentations as its tool, socialites and celebrity models as its participants.
“The bold and sometimes decadent style of fashion parties has made the by-invitation Stylo a much-coveted VIP invitation during the F1 of recent years,” said Stylo International president and chief executive officer Datuk Nancy Yeoh.
As preview for its show during the 2012 Olympics season, Stylo recently debuted during the London Fashion Week season with much success with its seven deadly sins concept featuring fashion pieces created out of 108kg of recycled waste.
The garments utilised tin cans, bottles, old newspapers, cardboard boxes, kitchen rolls and mosquito nets combined with 3D and 2D body art.
“A success we hope to repeat here in Mumbai except that the volume of wastes utilised will double that amount as the fashion collection will be twice that size. We hope to entertain, excite and disseminate messages of conservation to this sophisticated audience via fashion,” added Yeoh.
“We welcome Stylo to India and believe this fashion accompaniment will make our party unique, relevant and exciting. Not only is Mercedes-Benz a major player in the F1 race but also a big voice in fashion on a worldwide level,” said Mercedes-Benz India president and chief executive officer Peter Honegg.
The Stylo party in Mumbai will be the only event Mercedes-Benz will be hosting for the F1 season and will see Mercedes-Benz handpick and bring 300 of its top customers from all over India to this coveted event.
Airline partner, AirAsia X will be transporting the fashion collection from Malaysia. It will also fly in international media members from various Asian destinations as well as supporting artistes, talents and performers from London.
One of the main highlights of the event will be India’s top deejay, DJ Aqeel.
The evening will feature a presentation by the owner of Hype supported by supermodels-turn-DJs who are winners and finalists of the Ford Supermodels of the World, Malaysia 2011.
